Singapore Chinese Orchestra's Children Concert

We went to watch the Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s Children concert. It’s very similar to the Babies Prom's Concert we watched last December, but in this concert, most of the instruments are the typical ones that you found in Chinese songs.

But they have some modern instrument as well, just like the big Harp in the picture above. Caden was so excited to see that as it is the same instrument just like the one David, in the bible, play when he accompanying his sheep.

We learnt about major and minor and the seven major keys in music in this concert. But the one thing that captured most of Caden’s attention is the musicians. Caden couldn’t stop pointing and told me, that uncle is playing cello, or that one is playing double bass.

He asked questions too when he didn’t know the name of the instrument. There was this big xylo-piano. It looked familiar cos’ we have the miniature at home but he couldn’t figure it out. And when I told him what it’s called and told him that it was just like the one at home, I could see his face saying, “yeahh…that’s why it looks familiar” ^_^

Training Chopsticks

I bought these training chopsticks for Caden. I was so surprise to know that he was able to grab onto his favorite snack, cheerios, without any problem at all.

When I first bought this, I thought he will only able to do it when he is more than 3 years old, but at the same time, I also thought, there is no harm in teaching him early.

But then I found out, he could do it right from the beginning!! Right after he put his thumb and pointer inside the holes (he couldn’t put his middle finger inside the specified hole yet as his finger is still too short for it).

Pretend Play

Caden is into pretend-play nowadays.

He pretended to be Moses holding the big rocks of the tenth commandments, David (himself) who fights with Goliath (Mommy, the Nanny, Oma, or Daddy) all the time, or just simply be one of his teachers.

In this picture, he was pretending to be Jonah who was being thrown out from the boat.

When he became David, he will shouted, “I am brave, I am not scared of Goliath…” Then he will take his slingshot (which I made it from my old pointe shoes ribbon) and hit it onto Goliath.

The difficult part is, he insisted that Goliath (who most of the time is Mommy) has to fall down on the ground (just like in his book and DVD) every time he hit him. When he is really into the character, I should pretend to be dead for more than 10 times! Every time I stand up, Caden will hit me again with his slingshot.

I encourage this pretend play for his age. It’s fun for him and it’s could makes him to be a creative person in the future.

The Flyer...Once Again

Off we go to the Singapore Flyer again. It’s been 5 months since we last visited the flyer, since that terrible incident.

But I thought, it should be ok now. I believe the government has put up new and necessary measures so that similar incident won’t happen again.

I still feel a weird feeling when I am at the very top of the flyer, though. I can’t imagine if someone stuck inside it for hours and hours…

Caden as usual enjoyed his favorite ride!! He told everyone that he went to the flyer today.

Dr. Siva, my friend....at last

Amazing to see how the two of them can be friends now. Caden used to cry very loud the moment he sees Dr. Siva’s familiar face. And whatever we do, nothing will stop him.

His crying was so pitiful as if something really painful has been done unto him.

But today, he smiled at him! Play with him for a little while, did a few high-5s and following the instructions to open up his mouth, stand still while his ears were being checked and willingly lay down to get his chest heard by the stethoscope.

Dr. Siva said, “Wow…I have to pinch myself! I don’t know if this is real or just a dream…”

The reason for us here today is because of Caden’s cough and runny nose which has been there for the past 3 weeks. We went to another doctor and that doctor confirmed what Dr. Siva told us today, it is definitely an allergy. And he said, mostly from dust.

So I plan to change his curtains to plain blinds that will not trap dust ASAP. Dr. Siva recommend for me to throw away Caden’s plush toys….No way..!!!! I will buy a box and put it outside his room. ^_^

I hope he will recover soon, but I cannot put to much hope that he won’t get it anymore. Paul’s family and the extended ones has been having allergy when they are young. And ALL the boys had it, none on the girls.... (reminded me to try really hard to get a girl next time).

This wet cough and runny nose is really bothering him when he is sleeping. He keeps waking up a few times to cough and he had trouble breathing, too.

Dr. Siva gave him two asthma puff medicine to build his immune system to the allergic situation. I really hope this will make him much better soon.

When Mommy is Away...

I am going to Malang, a small city in Java to meet a friend. And I decided not to take Caden as the flight will be arriving in Surabaya and then we have to travel by car for 2 hours.

Anyway it would be easier to travel without him. Furthermore, I am only going for 2 nights and it’s weekend, so Daddy would be in Singapore and Ii Ani and Sasya will occupied him until Sunday afternoon.

To The Zoo We Went...

Caden was so happy to be able to go to the zoo with Ii Ani and Sasya. He has been talking about it for a few days.
.
As usual we went to see the monkeys and Ii Ani wanted to see the shows. Here we were at The Rainforest Fights Back 10.30am show.
.
I was very surprise that Caden wanted to take the pictures with the casts. This would be our 5th time watching the show but Caden never agree to take pictures with them.
.
He was a little scared prior to the photo taken, but when the casts gave their biggest smiles and shook his hands, he eased for the little and able to take the photos.

Becoming a Tomboy?

In a way, I am glad that Sasya’s is not here for too long. When she is in Singapore, she basically played with boys toys all the time.

She played with Caden’s cars and diggers, she read book about tractors and cranes.

In the picture, she looked very comfortable in a toy car at Fidgets.

Her mommy had actually bought her a few small cars at Toys R Us the other day when she saw that Sasya’s like it.

Tickle-ish Boy

Caden is considered as easily tickled boy. He cannot resist laughing when we tickle him almost everywhere.

In this, I was trying to put Sasya up unto his shoulders for a picture, but it was too tickle-ish for him.

PS: You can see how extremely H.O.T Singapore is by looking at Caden and Sasya’s forehead which already has some sweats.

When she smiles....

Taken at our favorite Dim Sum Restaurant. Can't resist to put it up here. She looks really pretty in this picture.

Smile more often, Sasya....

PS: Sasya at 7 and a half months.

Being a helpful brother

Sasya at almost 8 months and Caden at 2 years 7 months ate the same porridge.

The good thing is that, we don’t have to cook twice everytime Sasya is here.

And….Sasya always finished her share, while Koko (big brother) Caden almost never finished his.

*shaking head*

Until this day, Caden still have no snacks (except Cherrios and Corn Flakes), no fruits and no veggies.

He still drinks liters of milk each day. He likes soya bean milk, chocolate milk, formula milk and fresh milk.

Baby Sasya Visit...

Sasya and Ii Ani is here for a week, so this week would be a very happy week for Caden. He will wake up looking for both of them and ask to play with them all the time throughout the day.

This hot Saturday morning, we decided to take them for their first visit to Jacob Ballas Children Garden.

All of us had fun there; even Oma came to join us.

@ PlayNursery

Friday is here….

Today is the first day of his drop-off school at PlayNursery. I am hoping for the best, with no tears.

[Caden has been very good at Berries class for the past 1.5 months being drop-off once a week for one a half hours, this one should be easy for him *mommy hoping*]

I only enrolled him for three times a week class and each lasts for 2.5 hours.

I bought him a new ELMO oversized yellow school bag yesterday, for the sake of making this transition interesting and important. I was the one who put all the necessary things inside it, including his first ever snack without mommy around!!!

To my surprise, I didn’t feel that empty and lost (just like what I felt when I sent him to Berries the first couple of weeks). I realized that with this extra time on hand, I can do my errands, concentrating on my ballet/taking more classes and go to the gym more often without being rushed to be back home.

Caden did so well on his first day. No crying and socializing very well with the new class, friends and teachers. Mommy also received a very good feedback from teacher Hasannah and Zhang Lao Shi (shown in picture – she has similar name with his Playclub teacher).
.
Ah....he is maturing too fasttt........

Moving Up...

Caden with his Mandarin PlayClub teacher, Zhang Lao shi
.
Caden looked really bored in class. He has been in this same structured class (Julia Gabriel called it – Playclub) for 1 year.

He knows everything about the class and what comes up next. He was so bored that he would disturb the other kids or the teachers when he is suppose to follow the activities. I think the class is getting too easy for him.

After talking with other mothers and a grandmother, I decided to move Caden up to Playnursery, a drop off class for 3 times a week, as soon as possible.

Everyone, including Caden’s teachers always told me that Caden is a very independent boy. He will get much more in the next class. But I thought I want to keep him close to me for a little while longer. Well, this time, I think, moving him up is the best option for him.

We were lucky to have one slot available in that class. We visited the new class this morning and Caden seems to like it. He quickly sat down on an empty chair, where the kids were having their snacks, and asked for his snack.

I asked him if he wants to be in the class and he said, “Yes”. I am just hoping for the best for Friday.

Potty Makes Perfect...

For the past 2 weeks, Caden has been quite good at telling us when he wants to pee or pup. There was only 1 accident so far.

I am quite amazed with his sudden progress. I thought it would be forever until he is off diapers.

So now, at home, he is using his underwear (shown in picture) without any diapers, except when he sleep and when we go out.

[I am not that confident yet to let Caden off diapers when we go out]

Well, I am just very happy to see him half-way through from being potty trained. I hope by the time I send him to the real school, he will be well potty trained already.

When he doesn't get what he wants

This doesn't happen everyday, but when it happen, he make sure that it really looks as painful as possible; hopping that mom will fall into the trap and give him what he wants.

Caden wanted to open a new box of Cheerios which we actually still have the old one with quite a lot of Cherrios in it.

Of course he didn't get it in the end, but I managed to shift his attention to other things.

Uncle Tony Visit

A good friend from Shanghai came. We had a nice chat and Caden had a nice time knowing Uncle Tony again -- the last time they met was when Caden was only 1.5 months old in Austin, Texas.
