Zoo again Zoo again...

...never get tired of zoo...
.
[Today was our first time to feed the Giraffes]

With Rusky

He played with him, he hugged him, he patted him...while mommy was watching very carefully in a close distance.

I think the good thing of being kids is that, they have little fear with animals.

Rusky, Caden’s friend dog, is more than twice the size of Caden, but he wasn’t scared at all.

New Teacher

At the beginning of this term, Caden has new Mandarin teachers. I was a bit disappointed because we like the previous teachers very much.

On his first day of class, he refused to go inside the class for half an hour (never happened before). I thought that I should move him to the next class next week if he is still acting weird like this; at least there is his used to be assistant teacher there.

But now, a month after, he adapted well enough. Caden would run to her and say hello or play with her.

I am so glad. I think Caden is a relatively very easy to adapt to new people. I am hoping he will adapt very well when he has a new nanny in July.

Chinese New Year Day

Early in the morning, Caden received a Hong Bao from oma

Then at 11am, went out lunch at Inagiku, Fairmont Hotel. We were the only guests there! The waiters and waitresses had nothing to do that they played with Caden the whole time.

Caden was so happy to have received a complementary chef hat from a chef. He refused to wear his Chinese hat even just for a moment for pictures sake.

Being older

Although he is not entirely comfortable being too close to all clowns or anything similar to that, Caden now is willing to get really close to those that are familiar to him, such as Mr. McDonald.

He used to be so scared even at 10 feet distance, and hold on to me real tight and let me go only after I move to a greater distance.

At 29 months old, Caden is still very scared with people who wears costumes (i.e. moving clowns), but he is getting older and through time he learns that some of those ‘weird’ looking objects are harmless.

To Chinatown by MRT

Oma promised Caden to bring him out in a train, and since Oma wanted to see what Chinatown look like at Chinese New Year, off we go to explore.

We parked our car at The Central and took MRT to Chinatown.

It was such a short journey (from Clarke Quay MRT to Chinatown MRT is only one stop away), but Caden seemed happy and satisfied.

He was so excited from the moment we bought the tickets; he was waiting patiently for the tickets to drop down from the machine. ^_^

We told him to show off his green single trip MRT ticket while we wait for the train and he proudly do so.

At Chinatown, we shopped candies and jellies for friends and also for ourselves.

A journey worth while. Caden came home so happy for his train trip.

Zoo with different companies

Caden's Great-grandparents are here for their regular check up and this time, we are honored to be visited by Great-grandma's sister who lives in Holland, too.

We decided to bring them to see one of Caden's favorite place. He was our tour guide of the day.
.
It was a fun outing. The weather was on our side and we had a good workout by taking turn pushing Great-grandma in a wheelchair.
.
This is the first time we stayed until the Zoo closed; we took the last tram ride home.

Sushi Tei @ Bali

We tried out the Sushi Tei in Bali as Caden was craving for some Chawanmushi.

The restaurant was huge and has very pretty interior design.

Caden finished 3 Chawanmushi all by himself while all of us ordered some dessert. (We had our 'Ayam Taliwang' to go which we are going to finish it up at the hotel)

Balinese Royal Family

We took a picture as a Balinese royal family. I was surprise to know that Paul was willing to join us for a picture. ^_^

This would be one of the best picture we ever took...hihi...

Dirty, Tired, Sleepy!

The Next Morning

Day 2 morning:
  • Woke up really early at 6.30am.
  • Woke daddy up
  • Breakfast at 7.30am
  • Went to the beach right after that
  • Play with sand and took a sailboat ride (surprised that they let Caden to ride it, too)

The beach was very clean, the breeze was very nice and the sun wasn't that hot yet.

I learned that Caden actually like the beach very much. Plan to bring him again to the beach later today.

Four Season at Jimbaran Bay

Day 1:
  • Arrived at Four Season,
  • Checked in,
  • Arrived at our Villa 257,
  • Change to swimsuit,
  • Swim with daddy,
  • and then enjoying the breeze from the sea before we all went to sleep.

Monkey Forest

We then went straight to the Monkey Forest which was located about 5 minutes drive from the restaurant before we checked in into our hotel.

I am happy to see Caden progress in encountering with things or animals that he used to be scared with. Today was Caden's first (very) close encounter with a wild monkey.

Bebek Bengil Restaurant

We arrived at Bali and went straight to Bebek Bengil Restaurant at Ubud, Bali [Daddy's Favorite Restaurant].

This would be the 3rd time Caden been to this restaurant. At 2 years 3 months old, he explore the area very curiously; asked me to bring him to pond and see the fishes and asked us "What is that" question all the time.

He especially curious to see the farmers that was quite far from our side. He was also the one who told me to take his picure with the farmers (left picture on the last row), but you can barely see the farmers.
We plan to have a great time here at Bali! ^_^

The four of us before we left for Bali

Noodles

Caden only like this particular noodles that I bought in Puri Market (near II Ani's house). It is a very nice noddles though. Very crowded all the time and all of us like it very much; but I am actually not too sure about the hygiene and how much MSG is inside.
.
Well, it's holiday and I thought I should just be lenient for it. ^_^
.
He ate a lot of the noodles and insisted to eat by himself!

Pacific Place Mall

We went there early. Thanks God the traffic wasn't that bad. Had a great time browsing all the children stores.

We had our lunch at one of the restaurant in front of the boats area. Caden has an exceptionally great time pretending to be a sailor that drove the boat.

Sasya was behaving really well today; She slept when she was sleeping and drank her milk when she was hungry. Yey...time to bring her out more often! ^_^

It came off

Today, after Caden showered, we saw that his nail was half way off from his toe but we didn't dare to pull it off.

When we told Caden that his nail was coming out, he curiously try to pull it out himself. And.. it came off!!

No pain at all and his toe looks much better than with the dead nail on top.

Doctor said it still a long way until his nail grew but there is nothing to worry about. It will look as good as before.

Jakarta and then Bali

We are going to Jakarta and then to Bali today onwards! Can't wait for new adventures there...

Still Scary!!!

It’s been a little more than a week since the incident but his big toe still look not much different.

Well, actually it looks a little scarier with the blood on the side of the nail.

No more blood is coming from it anymore, but I think it’s not that dry yet for the dying nail to come out.

Doctor said when it happens, it is not going to hurt. Ah…I really hope so!

For now, he is not feeling any painful anymore. He is not limping when we walks and he can run since a few days ago, but I am only let him wear his sandals for now.

He takes a bath just fine, but he asks more to ‘swim’ on his bath tub nowadays and show me his underwater skill in it. I think he misses his days when we go swimming almost everyday. I want to prevent any germs to go inside the wound for now; I am afraid the pool water is not that clean.

I can’t wait to go swimming again with him and see his happy face when he is inside the pool.

Zoo with Oma

We went to the Zoo again today and oma wanted to tag along as well! The last time we were here with Oma was on April 28, 2008 (Caden was 19 months old).

Wow I remember at that time when Caden was just able to run all by himself and his speech development was not very clear at all.

Now he is talking non-stop, telling you what to do and not to do. He is still not fluent yet, though but at least we could understand most of it.

And that red t-shirt that he was wearing is in our storage now. It doesn’t fit his much bigger body anymore. He was only 12.5kg and now he is 15.5kg.

He is really growing so fast!

Today we went to see the White Tigers, and Hippos and while we were in the tram, we saw Giraffes, Zebras and Deer.

But the most interesting of all was that for $5 we could get to feed the Kangaroos.

It was Caden’s first ever experience to be VERY close to any animal (other than cats and dogs). He was a bit scared at first but soon he was enjoying himself. This time, he even once feed them with his own hands. Wow…

He said, “nih..” to the Kangaroos which means “here you go”

I am so proud of him!

Limping but still playing tennis

Despite of his injury and him limping when he walks, I decided to bring Caden to his first tennis lesson this term anyway.

He is not doing much in his class yet. It’s still kind of the early introduction of tennis.

The room also filled with full Air-Con so his injury will not get wet or dirty. And I know I can tell the teacher to be lenient to him today.

Apparently, everyone still in a holiday mood; Caden was the only one in the class today.

In the picture Caden looks like he knows what he is doing with his fore-hand, but it wasn’t really the case. He was actually playing with the racquet and for some reason looked like his is in position to hit the balloon. ^_^

I am still waiting for his first time to hit the ball all by himself.

Scary!!

I am scared to see his toe now. It looks so scary, so swollen, so black and so baddd…

I decided to go to the doctor after his school today; I don’t want him to miss his first day of school.

We went to his pediatrician. On the way there, I decided to tell him that we were going to the doctor to fix his painful big toe, hoping that it would make him cry less at the doctor office.

WRONG MOVE!

He cried right away and insisted that I should bring him home. He didn’t want to get out of the car and cried all the way up the escalator.

Then I told Suster to wait at McDonald’s, while I go upstairs and see if I can find answers just by showing them the pictures of his toe.

The front desk nurse said I should go to a pediatric surgeon.

[Almost fainted when I heard that. I was hoping she would say something like, “Oh it’s okay, you don’t have to see the doctor…the toe will heal eventually”]

She referred me to one surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital and went straight there afterwards.

When we arrived at the lobby, then Caden realized that he was brought to another doctor office. So screaming and crying started right away.

It continued until we arrived at the doctor office, then he was rolling on the floor and screaming so loud, again insisted that I should bring him home.

Then the blood inside the nail burst out (I think it bumped into something). His left toes were covered in blood. I thank GOD that I could be calm and cool about it.

Then we had to wait for the doctor that was on the hospital to check on his patient. Caden continued his rolling, screaming and crying for a while, but when I assured him that he won’t be given any injection, it got better for a few minutes [I was praying so hard that he REALLY won’t be given any].

The doctor came about 15 minutes later, the screaming and crying started again and only lasted for another 15 minutes when the doctor was done examining him.

So glad that everything is alright. Doctor said, the died nail will eventually come out and new nail with grow. He assured me that everything will look like new, but it will take a while, about 3-4 weeks.

I have to covered his toe with bandage, apply a medicine on it and change it everyday. No swimming for now, at least until the blood stop coming out. I have to gave Caden panadol, too for the next 3-4 days as it would be painful to walk.

Ck ck ck…*shaking my head* All of this mess, and the plate is totally fine, it still look like brand new!

First day of school...

...with my favorite color t-shirt and cap.
