Learning Adventure

Anything for children is interesting and all of them are part of their learning adventures. Their brains are like a sponge that could expand so much to take in a lot of new information.

Our role as parents are to expose them to different kind of stuffs to prepare them for the future ahead; from manners to academic things, from outdoor activities to home activities.

I am glad that besides at home, Caden’s school is also exposing him to a lot of different activities everyday.

It doesn’t have to be expensive, it just need the creativity of the parents/teachers for our children’s learning process; like playing with macaroni (above). It can be so interesting and time consuming for the kids.

Little Gym again...

Since tennis class is on holiday this week (they follow a different set of holidays), we did a drop-in class today at the Little Gym. I thought Caden would love it again as it’s been quite a while since we did it.

He looked so relax. It looked like he still remembers the place rather well; he run to the bars and the obstacles as if he is doing the class every week.

[He has been in the class from 4 months old to exactly 2 years old]

I like seeing him so happy and active and able to engage with teachers better than he used to be.

At almost 2.5 years old, he is still in love with green. He asked specifically to be given the green hula hops, took the green ball right away, and chose the green stick for him to play with.

When Mommy is at Ballet...

I am proud to say that for the past one month there was no crying when mommy is going to Ballet class.

When I told him that mommy has to go for trilling triling – the word we use for Ballet, he simply say, “Good bye, mommy, see you later…”

Sometimes, after I am gone, he still looks for me though, but it wasn’t as bad as crying for 1 hour like a few weeks back. He didn’t even cry, he just wailed for a while and when the nanny reminds him that mommy is at Ballet, he will stop his waling and agree to sleep.

I think he understand now that Mommy will come back and sleep besides him again even after ballet.

I am so happy that his separation anxiety has somewhat decrease... a little, at least.

I will continue to encourage him to be an independent little boy in preparation for the drop–off school next year. And when that happens, I am sure, I will miss the little Caden who likes to follow me like glue.

Micro Scooters America

It’s been almost ten months since I bought Caden his first bike. But until now, he still couldn’t pedal it forward.

I am out of idea on how to teach him to ride a bike.

Once a few months ago we even need to raise the seat as he is getting taller since the first time we bought it.

Then I bought him this award winning scooter by Micro Scooters America at Robinson last Christmas. I has been wanting to buy this, but thought they only sale it in US. I was surprised that they do sell it here.
.
And now he is able to use it almost like a pro already.

Not sure what wrong with the bike, but I hope he will be able to ride it soon.

S.H.A.P.E.S

Square has 3 sides.
.
I have introduced Caden to may different types of shapes since a few months back.

I bought him puzzles that teach shapes, books with many different kind of shapes and DVDs too.

And this week theme in school is shapes with the emphasis on square.

At about 22 months, Caden knows and remembers all the basic shapes, i.e. triangle, rectangle, square, and circle.

Sentosa on Monday

I promised Caden to bring him to play sand today. I thought I was going to bring him to Jacob Ballas Children garden after his nap.

When we was about to go, I just realized that Jacob Ballas is closed every Monday.

I asked him if he wants to swim with me at the apartment’s pool instead and he said, “No! want play sand.”

So I have to choice than to bring him to Sentosa.

[I don’t know any other place that close to home that has sand to play with]

He recognized The Luge when we passed that by and I told him we are going to play at the beach today.

Oh my goodness!!! It was so hotttt…. Luckily it was Monday, so it wasn’t crowded at all which could add to the headache from the hot sun!

We sat at one of the café which has big umbrella and a few tall trees to hide the sun from us.

I ordered ice-tea and French-fries. Up to now, I am still amazed on how many French-fries he can eat at one time. He used to hate it so much.

We didn't do much, just doing the regular activities...

no flowers (except from a close friend of mine), no romance.

I am just glad that Paul was able to be with us this weekend.

Spongebob Square Pants

Never in my mind that I will introduce Caden to this weird character called Spongebob.

But recently he was being introduced by his tennis teacher who usually gave the kids stickers at every lessons right before they went home.

And the choice for the past weeks was either a Princess character or Spongebob.

So since Caden knew this character now, I thought I want to surprise him by buying him books (or even DVD) on Spongebob.

Oh my goodness!!! I did try to go to different bookstore to find good, meaningful or educational books on Spongebob but found NONE.

This weird, un-educational, meaningless character is really bad for kids, especially at a very young age. I truly believe this character is more suitable for teenagers.

I gave up looking for books or DVDs but found these matching socks for us. I bought it right away and we are gonna use it in class together! ^_^

The Luge

A few friends have been telling me to bring Caden to the Luge at Sentosa. They said their kids enjoyed the ride so much and Caden is not too young to join the ride.

Butt…they forgot to tell us about the Skyride ride was very scary. We just basically sit down on a moving chair uphill (kind of like the one you see on those places for skiing).

Paul, Suster and I were so scared that Caden would move and fall down. Every single inch of move that Caden made, we will make it such a big deal that we literary tell him in a very firm voice that he is not suppose to move AT ALL!

We arrived safely on the top of the hill. The queue wasn’t that bad for Sunday late afternoon.

And once we were on the Luge, Caden kept telling his daddy to go faster and faster!!!

He loved it and when we asked if he would like to ride it again some other time and he excitedly say, YES!

For me, I am still worry for the Skyride ride!!! Let me think about it yaa... ^_^

PS: My SLR decided to stop functioning at this very important moment! Not sure what happened. Luckily I bought my compact camera with me everywhere.

Ii Ani's Hand Surgery

At Pasta de Waraku - Central Mall.
.
Ii Ani (and baby Sasya) was here for a few days. She has to undergo small hand surgery to remove one of the excess tissues on her palm.

We were happy in a way that Ii Ani has to come here.

The happiest person was Caden! He got to play with Ii Ani and baby Sasya for a few days.

We wish they could stay here a little longer, though!

Another Haircut

I am so happy to see Caden’s hair growing so fast. I was only a month ago that we cut his hair and now, his fringe and side hair was a bit messy as they have grown quite a bit.

Today, I brought Caden to cut his hair again. I told myself that I don’t mind bringing him here every month for a hair cut as long as it will contribute to add the volume of the hair.

Here is he after the hair cut. He didn’t cry at all. A little ticklish here and there, but once we distract him with the Barney movie that was played throughout the process, it was fine.

I am so glad the horror of cutting hair when he was young never happen again.

My Cheeky Caden
